What are the readers saying? On Amazon Worth the read...., August 21, 2009 By MotherLodeBeth "MotherLodeBeth" (Sierras of California) - See all my reviews The book attracted my interest because of the subject of depression, and my sincere curiosity in finding out if like so many books my non medical professionals, the author had a one size fits all solution, which often ignores the fact that situational depression is vastly different from serious clinical depression, that accident victims/survivors have, or the head trauma related depression troops coming home from the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan have. The author seems to have suffered from situational depression which makes up the biggest number of cases of depression here in the states, according to medical professionals like those at Stanford University Medical School have written about. There is great value in her writing on becoming honest with addictions, no matter what they are and how they hold us down. Or her goals for a healthy me on page 184. Am glad the author wrote so well about changing ones thinking and stopping trying to be what you think others want you to be, as well as the value of keeping a journal so one can see the progress has made, and simply pausing daily to look around and see what one has to be grateful for. Be it clean clothes, clean water to drink, a roof over your head, a place to sleep, or berries from a roadside blackberry bush. `We all must choose our own path to healing', September 16, 2009 By J. Cameron-Smith "Expect the Unexpected" (ACT, Australia) - See all my reviews This is Melissa Sarazin's story of how she reclaimed her life from depression and confusion. Many of us suffer from either confusion or depression at various stages in life. Some of us, like Melissa, suffer (or have suffered) from both. In recounting her journey, Melissa shares her own singular path to recovery. Why singular? Because there are many causes and types of confusion and depression and what has worked for Melissa may not work for all. This is not a `how to' book, although I have no doubt that elements of Melissa's learning would be applicable to others. There are no easy steps here, no quick fixes. However, in order to start a journey of recovery each traveller must accept that s/he needs to make changes and look for assistance. There are a number of different paths to awareness, knowledge and healing. What I enjoyed most about Melissa's story was that this was not a journey she undertook alone. It is also not a journey that has ended: Melissa has acquired new skills and knowledge which she is using to assist others. This is Melissa's journey and I expect that writing it and sharing it with others is part of her healing.
